thewealthworks have been developing software for over 10 years and our key members of staff have over 100 years of collective experience between them.

  • Alex Adams

    Business Development

    Alex Adams

Alex initially studied accounting and finance at University, and then found himself working in the container shipping industry. He found that he enjoyed working with people, trying to get an understanding of how to best implement software that could make their jobs easier. His role at thewealthworks builds on this experience to help our clients to get the most out of our systems. Alex has a broad knowledge of all products and he is responsible for turning user requests into specifications that the programmers can deliver on. An experienced diver, Alex lists travel as a major interest together with skiing, riding his motorbike and cooking for friends.

  • Brian Matthews

    Programming

What Brian doesn't know about Troika isn''t worth knowing! Brian was involved in the early days of its development and wrote much of the early code. He is our "technical memory" and provides the continuity of thought that is so important when developing software. He loves Scotland, cycling, real ale and a good curry - although not necessarily at the same time! He also has a passion for classical music and when not sitting coding you will find him in a concert hall.

  • Duncan Alexander

    Support and Training

Our man in Jersey. Duncan knows the software in detail and looks after all our Channel Island users. He was a programmer in a previous life and his analytical skills are put to good use in writing specifications for enhancements. When not working he is a keen, and very good golfer. He supports Arsenal and always tries to get visits to the UK to coincide with a home game!

  • Gill Pickworth

    Client Liaison

    Gill Pickworth

Gill's main aim in life is to keep our clients happy! She is very much of the view that we work with our clients as a team. Gill previously worked for the Institute of Chartered Accountants so she understands how professional practices work. Her role is to represent clients by following up on support calls and enhancement requests, and travelling the country visiting them all. Born in Northumberland and educated in Liverpool her hobbies were netball and tennis. More recently she has added garden design and house restoration to her portfolio of outside work activities. Some say that she has invented a new competitive sport of extreme gardening!

  • Joe Aeberhard

    Programming

    Joe Aeberhard

Joe has been developing financial applications for more than a decade with an emphasis on data-driven web applications. A freelance consultant for many years we are very fortunate to have Joe's experience available to our development team. Joe is an irredeemable hippy, born just too late for the sixties. His love of flowers, trees and open-toed sandals is only rivalled by his love of SQL Server and Web Applications. Joe and .NET exist in total harmony. He has made FISH his own and leads our drive into the .NET environment.

  • John Johnson

    Systems Consultant

    John Johnson

Engineer, project manager, networking and communications expert. John looks after our own networking infrastructure and helps our clients with theirs. An ex Orchard Business Systems employee, John is our chief trouble shooter. Give him an intractable problem to solve and he will find you a practical solution based on knowledge and years of experience. In his spare time John is a conservationist and is heavily involved with the British Deer Society. He travels, and has a particular interest in Scotland and Greece.

  • Marian Jones

    Accounts

    Marian Jones

Marian originally joined us as cover for maternity leave, and 8 years later she's still here! As a Triathlete she is without doubt the fittest member of the team. She uses our very own Troika system to manage our accounts and she is famous for producing the best audit files ever seen. If you speak to Marian as a supplier or client feel free to ask her for one of her famous recipes. She not only swims, cycles and runs but bakes the most amazing cakes. She is also one of the many "Joneses" who work with Troika. It's not compulsory to be a "Jones" but she was so infatuated with the software that she changed her name!

  • Mark Jones

    Programming

    Mark Jones

Mark is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years experience in successful accounting software houses and dealerships. His personal skills include programming in Microsoft Visual Studio and Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL Server. He has a very good understanding of navigation within a software product and is the main reason why Troika products are so intuitive. A naturally gifted sportsman, cricket and football came to him as naturally as did programming; Mark's judgement is rarely questioned. However his support of Leeds United and his claim, as yet without evidence, of playing golf at a high level, have raised a few doubts.

  • Mick Jones

    Managing Director

    Mick Jones

Another accountant that didn't want to be one! Mick left university with a degree in Economics, followed by Barclays International, computer audit, GEC Marconi and a ten year flirtation with academia before entering the software world with Orchard Business Systems back in the 1980's. Troika was developed in the mid 1990's. He has a vision of providing cost effective, functionally rich software that makes work easier and rewarding, and makes the organisation more efficient. Troika does that! His other visions of seeing Newcastle United win the Premiership or being asked to join the Rolling Stones in concert as a late replacement for Keith Richards seem less likely to be fulfilled!

  • Pippa Rigby Smith

    Accounts Analyst

    Pippa Rigby Smith

Pippa has joined us for a year on a placement from the University of Brighton. After taking 'A' levels in Mathematics, Psychology, and English, Pippa started her degree in Business Studies with Finance. She took a gap year before going to University travelling around Australia. She likes challenges and she has mastered skydiving! Her interest is accounting and she has taken to Troika accounts formatting like a duck to water! This is similar to skydiving but carries less risk. She reviews clients' formats, deals with client enquiries and updates the support log. Pippa has taken a real interest in the development of the Probate module. Quote a box number on the IHT400 and she can tell you which page it's on! She will return to the University of Brighton in 2012 for her final year and wants to embark on a career in accounting on graduation.

  • Richard Jones

    Support

    Richard Jones

Richard trained as a Chartered Accountant and worked in general practice after qualification. He soon found it far more fun dismantling the computers and printers than balancing the books, and so joined the software supplier Orchard Business Systems. Apparently they thought it easier to have him working for them than having him as a client. The rest is history! He is widely travelled and freely admits that a career in engineering might have been more interesting than accountancy! Not many would argue with that would they? Not only does he know Troika inside out but he is an expert in the whole Office suite. Richard can do things with spreadsheets that others can only dream of.

  • Robin Newton

    Operations

Robin is in charge of our internal processes. She has previous experience managing a customer service team within a large insurance company, and has had involvement within their own internal software development. She has put this experience to good use here at thewealthworks! Robin always wins the award for the tidiest desk. She likes to get things done and makes sure that we all feel the same way too! Refreshingly Robin has no interest in football. She likes music and there is no doubt in our mind that if she hadn't joined the Troika team she could have been the sixth member of "Girls Aloud". Music's loss is our gain, we say!

  • Tamara Labelle

    Marketing Administrator

    Tamara Labelle

Tamara has joined us for a year on a placement from the University of Brighton. After working in the retail and travel industries she started her degree in Business Studies with Marketing. Tam is one of the most energetic people to work at thewealthworks; she makes us feel quite tired sometimes! She has worked as a voluntary Music Event Organiser for Oxfam, and during her second year at university she was the Mature Student Representative at the University of Brighton Student Union. She is involved in all aspects of marketing, the web site, new media and event organisation. If you come to a user group meeting or one of the STEP events that we sponsor you will undoubtedly meet Tam there. In the first few months with us she has already been to Gibraltar and has visits to Malta and to Leeds planned! Look at the news on our website and send a tweet to Tamara! She will return to the University of Brighton in 2012 for her final year and wants to embark on a career in marketing on graduation.
